I’m So Excited

Kids on Christmas Day
I feel like a kid on Christmas Day! I got a new toy that answers so many questions about where I’m headed in my design career, that I just don’t know where to start…

I’m ironing out all the technical details about producing short “how-to” movies for the Web. I wish this production tool were available years ago when I was trying to figure out just what my computer could do, and how to configure things so they’re optimized for doing them. With these little movies, anyone can watch and follow along, and learn by seeing, just which choices to make, from which menus, and so on.

There are so many applications I’d like to put it to. The stuff I already know how to do, others can watch my production and learn from it, and the stuff I don’t yet know how to do, I can produce little movies about what I tried and what failed, so others can see where I went wrong, and so on..

The entire suite was only $197.00, and it does all kinds of things. I’ve been trying to figure out how to embed the player in here, but it’s JavaScript resize function, and some of the other param tags make it difficult for me to figure out. Here’s the test slideshow I made by taking screenshots from a presentation about paleoanthropology, evolution and human origins called Becoming Human at becominghuman.org. I inserted a wav file of Judy Garland from “The Wizard of Oz”, where she says”Well, people come and go so quickly around here”; but the speed at which it plays is really slow, so it sounds bizarre. Anyway, I was just compiling stuff to see how everything worked. I bet I’m breaking all the computers on my server. (oops!)

I’m sure they’ll let me know.
