Where’d He Go?
I haven’t been posting much, as if anyone noticed. My attention-deficit disorder is running rampant!
With the holidays upon us, I have become more side-tracked than ever.
Opening up my e-mail program every morning, I tend to fall back into the habit of reading from the countless online-marketing newsletters I receive, then clicking links here and there, and having multiple tabs and multiple windows open all over my desktop, learning this about affiliate programs, and that about resell rights, and something new about blogging and pinging (I know you know about pinging, but did you know there’s ponging too?); and the hours go by.
Rather than posting publicly here, I’ve been using my goal-setting program’s journal feature to keep some of my thoughts. Quietly in the background, I log my ideas for launching the website that’s going to tie this, and all my other web efforts together.
I won’t go into how I’m going to do it here, but 2006 is definitely going to be the year I start making money online. Yes, I know I said that last year.
The marketing world slams my inbox with offers this time of year. There are so many free offers, and things you absolutely MUST have; the only problem is, I fell for that last year and downloaded a million things that I HAD to have to run a successful online business; and I studied all the material and tried to use all the tools they gave me; and I just got more overwhelmed and confused than ever.
I have learned a lot this year, however. My programming abilities are a little better honed, and I’m now an affiliate to many programs. I just need to make a plan to put it all into action.
It’ll happen. Maybe I take a little longer to “get it” than most people do, but I want everything to be “perfect”, and I don’t want to make a fool of myself. Oops, too late.
Take a look at the “Works-In-Progress” links over there on the right. I have one more to add to those. TimRockMan. It’s relatively easy to go register a domain name, establish another account at my host, upload all the wordpress files and configure the database, and change the theme of the wordpress blog.
The hardest part is getting content to make the new site something that people would want to come back to. My plans for Powell3D were initially to offer resources for people interested, like me, in 3D creation. Tutorials that would teach people how to use their 3D programs to create images, animations, and so on. This is a “hobby” I haven’t really devoted much time to in the last year. I don’t even own the good 3D programs. I only have Bryce. Bryce is great, but I really need 3D Studio Max, and Maya. But then again, there are only so many hours in the day. I’m trying to be a webmaster for seven or eight websites too. It’s just not possible to create content for all these websites, monetize them, optimize them, and maintain them, AND create beautiful 3D works too.
I have too many interests, and this coming year, I absolutely MUST make some decisions to narrow my focus. Making money online is SO possible, and there are SO many ways to do it, and the thing holding me back has primarily been my inability to make a plan for just ONE of those methods, and carry it out until it’s completed. I’m way too easily distracted.
Oooh, what’s that? I have to go. I have to read this Instant Guru Blog.
